72 Ferrosilicon is mainly made by melting silicon-containing raw materials and iron-containing raw materials in a certain proportion in a mineral heat furnace. Difference and connection between inoculant and ferrosilicon:

Ferrosilicon is used as an inoculant and spheroidising agent in the cast iron industry. Cast iron is an important metal material in modern industry, it is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelt, has excellent casting properties and much better seismic capacity than steel. Especially ductile cast iron, its mechanical properties reach or close to the mechanical properties of steel. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon in cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron, promote the precipitation of graphite and spheroidisation, thus in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (to help precipitate graphite) and spheroidising agent.

The common good inoculants include: ferrosilicon inoculant, barium silicate inoculant, calcium silicate inoculant.
