45% FeSi Granules

The production of 45% FeSi Granules involves the reduction of silica (SiO2) with coke in the presence of iron. This process is carried out in electric arc furnaces, where temperatures reach up to 2000°C. The raw materials, including quartz, coke, and scrap iron, are fed into the furnace, and an electric current is passed through to create the necessary heat. The resulting molten alloy is then tapped from the furnace and allowed to cool and solidify. The solidified Ferro Silicon is subsequently crushed and screened to desired sizes for various industrial applications.

The hardness of ferro silicon 45 varies with its silicon content. Alloys with higher silicon content tend to be harder and more brittle. Generally, it exhibits moderate hardness and can be machined, though it may cause wear on tools due to its abrasive nature.

Ferro silicon 45 is chemically stable under normal conditions. It is resistant to oxidation at room temperature but can oxidize at elevated temperatures. When exposed to air and moisture, it can form a thin oxide layer on its surface, which can protect the underlying material from further oxidation.

At high temperatures, ferro silicon 45 can react with acids and alkalis. In particular, it can react with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas and with molten iron to form various silicides.
