The primary technological process for obtaining metallurgical silicon is synthesis. The starting materials are wood, coal fractions and quartzite. In the initial stage, these components are amalgamated and subsequently transferred to arc furnaces, where the temperature is elevated to 2000ºC. The restoration of a significant portion of quartzite is facilitated by the application of carbon. The outcome of this procedure is silicon carbide, which is then utilised as the primary raw material for the recovery of the residual quartz. The final stage of processing takes place in the central region of the apparatus, where the temperature is reduced to 1835ºC. This results in the formation of silicon in its pure form.
