Silicon Calcium Description
Si-Ca alloy is a composite alloy comprising silicon, calcium and iron. It is an ideal composite deoxidiser and desulfuriser.
Both calcium and silicon have a strong affinity for oxygen. In particular, calcium has a strong affinity not only with oxygen, but also with sulfur and nitrogen. The silicon-calcium alloy is therefore an ideal compound deoxidizer and desulfurizer. The silicon alloy has a strong deoxidization ability and the deoxidization product is easy to float up, easy to discharge, and can improve the properties of steel. It can also improve the plasticity, impact toughness, and fluidity of steel. Currently, silicon-calcium alloy can be used as an alternative to aluminium for final deoxidisation. It is employed in the production of high-quality steel and special steel and special alloy. For instance, rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel-based alloy, titanium-based alloy and other special alloys can be used as a deoxidiser with silicon calcium alloy. Additionally, Si-Ca alloy can be utilised as a warming agent in converter smelting workshops, as an inoculant in cast iron and as an additive in ductile cast iron production.
