Silicon Calcium Description
Silicon calcium alloy is a compound alloy comprising silicon, calcium and iron. It is an ideal compound for use as a deoxidiser and desulfuriser. Currently, calcium alloy is being used as a replacement for aluminium in the final deoxidation process.
Silicon calcium alloys are employed as deoxidisers and desulfurisers in the production of high-grade steel. It is a well-established fact that calcium and silicon have a strong chemical affinity for oxygen. Calcium has a particularly strong chemical affinity for oxygen, as well as sulfur and nitrogen. Silicon calcium is used to control the shape, size, and distribution of oxide and sulfide inclusions, improving fluidity, machinability, ductility, and impact properties of the steel product. It is applied to the production of high-quality steel, special steel, and special alloys, including rail and low-carbon steel, stainless steel, steel and nickel-base alloy, titanium alloy, and other special alloys.
