When used as an inoculant in casting, it can promote the formation of type A graphite, refine eutectic groups, improve the distribution of graphite, and enhance resistance to recession. It can also eliminate and prevent the white tendency, reduce cross-section sensitivity. When barium-silicon alloy is used as a deoxidiser in steelmaking, it is smokeless and non-sparking. The deoxidising effect of barium-silicon alloy is higher than that of calcium-silicon alloy, and it can also improve the shape of non-metallic inclusions and improve the quality of steel.
