Precautions For The Use Of UHP Graphite Electrodes

There are the following precautions when using UHP graphite electrodes:

1. When choosing the diameter of the UHP graphite electrode, please refer to the permissible current load and current density of the electrode, to avoid the situation that the selected graphite electrode can't bear the current load and current density.

2. The transportation and storage of UHP graphite electrodes should avoid rain, snow, and water, and make sure the electrodes are dry before use.

3. During loading, unloading, and transportation, UHP graphite electrodes should be handled gently to prevent the threads from being damaged by impact. When loading and unloading, it is better to use a special spreader.

4. Before connecting the new electrode and connector, the electrode screw holes must be sucked clean with compressed air, and then the connector and electrode should be installed as needed. When the difference between the two electrode end faces is 20-30mm, carry out the second blowing dust, and then tighten the electrode and connector.

5. The electrode of the electric furnace must not be shaken during operation to prevent the electrode connector from loosening, breaking or snapping.

6 To prevent the electrode from breaking when the unmolten scrap collapses, the electrode should be raised in time according to the melting situation and the unmolten scrap should be pushed into the furnace pool.
