Ferro vanadium 60
Ferro vanadium 60 is an important part of making steels for large industrial rolls used in metalworking mills, such as hot and cold rolling stands. These rolls are put through extreme mechanical and thermal cycles, meaning they need to be very strong and able to withstand wear and tear. The addition of ferro vanadium makes the roll material more able to be hardened, resulting in a deep and uniform hardness profile after heat treatment. The hard vanadium carbides that form within the steel matrix greatly increase the roll's resistance to abrasion from the strip material. This means that the roll can be used for longer before it needs to be reground.
