65% Titanium Alloy Feti is employed as a deoxidising and degassing component in the production of steel.

 

The addition of titanium in the range of 0.05-0.25% to cast iron will result in the promotion of fine to medium graphite grain size. If the percentage is increased beyond 0.25%, a highly stable titanium carbide will be formed which will not be brittle during heat treatment. Therefore, cast iron that requires heat treatment should not have more than 0.25% Ti. If titanium is added at a low level, it will assist in the formation of primary graphite. Titanium will impede the formation of spheroid graphite. The optimal percentage is 0.04%. The addition of titanium will increase the eutectic temperature while simultaneously reducing the carbon content at the eutectic point.
