Ferro titanium 70 Description

Similar to other ferroalloys, FeTi 70 is a method of adding titanium to steel, which has a lower melting temperature and higher density than scrap titanium. Titanium acts as a detergent and stabilizer; it removes oxygen, sulfur, carbon and nitrogen and prevents the formation of chromium carbide. Titanium reacts with these impurities to form water-insoluble compounds, which are removed in the slag. Like zirconium, titanium is a grain refiner, so adding FeZr and FeTi to steel results in a finer grain structure in the final product (stainless steel, mild steel, high strength low alloy steel, boron steel).
