To obtain low-carbon ferrochrome, the method of carbon reduction of chrome ore in electric arc furnaces is used. The process includes the following stages:
The raw materials are high-quality chrome ores, coke and quartz. The raw materials are pre-crushed and sorted to obtain the required composition and size.
The chrome ore and coke are charged into an arc furnace, where the chromium oxides are reduced at a temperature of 1500-1600°C.
Liquid ferrochrome undergoes a refining process to remove impurities, including sulfur, phosphorus, and silicon. The main goal is to improve the characteristics of the alloy and reduce the content of harmful elements.
The finished ferrochrome is poured into molds and cooled. After that, the product is crushed to the desired fraction for ease of transportation and use.
