3-5um Silicon Nitride Ceramic Material 99.9% Description
Silicon nitride products are made by heating at high temperatures, using a press, and by breaking silicon compounds with heat. The best products are made by heating in special machines that use nitrogen gas. Silicon nitride is difficult to make yourself because it can only be heated to 1850 °C, which is much lower than the temperature at which it melts (at which silicon and nitrogen separate).
However, bonding of silicon nitride powder can be achieved at lower temperatures by adding additional materials, which usually increase the level of sintering. An alternative is the spark plasma sintering method, in which heating is carried out very quickly (in seconds) by passing pulses of electric current through a pre-compressed powder. This method was used to obtain dense silicon nitride products at temperatures of 1500-1700 °C.
