Metallic Silicon

Metallic Silicon is a grade of technical silicon. The raw material is extracted from pure quartz sand by carbothermic reduction and is supplied in bulk form. Molten silicon metal is extracted from crucible furnaces, which are sent to the foundry. There the ingots are cleaned and cast. After cooling, they are pre-crushed and temporarily stored in an oven. The product is then crushed and packaged in this form for transport.

One of the by-products is MicroSilica, which is separated from combustion gases in special bag filters. Most of the raw materials are processed into silicon metal, so the production process produces very few solid by-products. A small part of the raw material is also processed into slag. All combustion gases generated during the production process are purified and further processed.
