High Level Material Silicon Metal

Silicon metal has a high melting point, high strength, appropriate density, and good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, making it a highly promising high-temperature structural material. However, its brittleness has become a key issue hindering its industrial application, which is mainly determined by the phase composition and microstructure of the products. Alloying and composite formation can effectively improve the microstructure and performance of metallic silicides.

1.Method for measuring the silicon metal content: Select silicon metal samples with a phosphorus weight percentage of 0.0025% to 0.25%, and place them in acid-resistant containers; sequentially add 4 to 5 mL of distilled water and 15 to 20 mL of nitric acid for each gram of silicon metal sample, followed by 4 to 6 mL of perchloric acid, and mix well; slowly add 1 to 2 mL of hydrofluoric acid for each gram of silicon metal sample, then add 10 to 15 mL of hydrofluoric acid; when most of the silicon metal is dissolved, transfer to a heating plate at a temperature of 150 to 200°C for evaporation; leave approximately 0.5 to 1 mL of the solution; cool the solution and add 12 to 14 mL of 10% nitric acid for each gram of silicon metal sample, then dilute with distilled water to a total volume of 250 mL, and mix well; prepare a calibration curve; measure the phosphorus spectral line intensity in the resulting solution according to step seven, and the computer will automatically retrieve the phosphorus content in the sample solution from the calibration curve to calculate the phosphorus percentage in the silicon metal sample.
