Coke is the main raw material for smelting ferrosilicon, it is also the reducing agent for smelting ferrosilicon, so the fixed carbon content in the coke is required to be as high as possible, it should be more than 84﹪, and at the same time, the ash content of coke should be low. Because the coke ash content is high, the amount of slag increases, because the ash contains about 60% aluminum oxide (AI2O3), resulting in slag being sticky and not easy to remove. In addition, the high ash content of coke added to the furnace makes it easy to make the material surface sintering, affecting the permeability. Therefore, the ash content of coke should be less than 13%.
