Ferro silicon 65 is a silicon-iron alloy used for steelmaking deoxidation, casting and silicon adjustment. Its silicon content is usually controlled at Si 65% min.
Compared with FeSi72 or FeSi75, FeSi65 has lower silicon content and a lower purchase cost. For ordinary steelmaking and foundry use, this grade is often enough when the plant needs basic deoxidation but does not require higher silicon recovery.

Application in Steelmaking
In steelmaking, FeSi65 is usually added during tapping or ladle treatment. It helps reduce oxygen in molten steel and adjust silicon content before casting.
A common furnace situation is simple: the steel grade only needs normal deoxidation, and the final silicon target is not very high. In this case, FeSi75 may work faster, but the extra cost may not be necessary. FeSi65 gives the operator a lower-cost option for routine heats.
For plants using ferro silicon for steelmaking every day, this difference matters. A small price gap per ton becomes a large monthly cost difference when the plant consumes several containers.
