Ferro Silicon Zirconium FeSiZr1.5 For Gray Iron Inoculation

Ferro Silicon Zirconium FeSiZr1.5 is designed for gray iron foundries that need stable inoculation performance at controlled cost. With a typical zirconium range of 1.3–1.8%, FeSiZr1.5 provides a practical balance between nucleation effect, silicon recovery, and treatment economy.

Compared with ordinary ferro silicon, Ferro Silicon Zirconium performs better in castings with variable section thickness, faster cooling zones, or higher chill tendency. It is commonly used for brake discs, machine tool castings, pump bodies, valve bodies, and general engineering castings.

In gray iron, FeSiZr1.5 promotes graphite nucleation and helps reduce carbide formation in sensitive sections. This supports more consistent hardness, better machinability, and improved casting uniformity.

Its low-zirconium design makes it suitable for foundries seeking better inoculation stability than ordinary ferro silicon without moving to higher-cost inoculant systems. Final performance depends on base iron chemistry, addition method, melt temperature, and casting section thickness.
