Ferro vanadium 60
Making ferrovanadium starts with finding very pure vanadium, like vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) or ferrovanadium scrap. This is then mixed with iron ore or pig iron. The mixture is heated to over 1,600°C in electric arc furnaces to melt vanadium oxides into molten iron. Then comes ladle refining, where precise additions of deoxidizers (e.g. aluminium) and alloying elements adjust the chemical composition to meet the target vanadium content (50%, 60%, or 80%) and limit impurities like carbon (<0.5% for grade 60), silicon (<1.0%), and phosphorus (<0.03%). Once this has been done, molten metal is poured into ingots or cast continuously into billets. Then it is crushed and screened into granular or powder form (with particle sizes ranging from 0.5mm to 20mm).
