High Quality Ferrovanadium Alloy Description
Ferrovanadium is derived from materials containing vanadium, such as slag. There are two ways to obtain it. In the first method, vanadium pentoxide is obtained by the silicothermal method from steel waste. Another way is to reduce in an electric arc furnace. Vanadium steels are divided into low-alloy and high-alloy steels. Low-doped ones contain less than 0.15% vanadium, while high-doped ones contain up to 5%.
Ferrovanadium melts at a temperature of 1,450 °C. Its density is 6.7 g/cm³, which varies slightly depending on the amount of impurities. Ferrovanadium dust is harmful to human health, so it is classified as the second class of danger.
In the metallurgical industry, the alloy is used to improve the properties of alloy steels.
