Ferro Silicon Lumps Description

 Ferro Silicon Alloy is an alloy made by combining iron and silicon, with silicon content ranging from 8.0% to 95.0%. It is primarily used as a deoxidizer or as an additive for alloying purposes. Ferrosilicon comes in different varieties with silicon content ranging from 45%, 65%, 75%, and 90%. Ferrosilicon is divided into 21 grades based on its silicon content and impurities.

1. Used as deoxidizer. The steelmaking process is to blow oxygen or add an oxidizing agent method to make iron decarburization and remove phosphorus sulfur and other harmful impurities in the process of pig iron into steel, the oxygen content in the liquid steel gradually increases, and generally in the form of FeO exists in the liquid steel. If you do not stay in the steel to remove excess oxygen, you can not cast into a qualified billet and do not get good mechanical properties of steel. For this reason, the a need to add some with oxygen binding force than iron, and its oxides are easy to exclude from the liquid steel into the slag elements.

2. Used as an alloying agent. Alloying elements can not only reduce the impurity content of steel but also adjust the chemical composition of steel, commonly used alloying elements are silicon, manganese, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, titanium, tungsten, cobalt, boron, niobium and so on. Containing different alloying elements and alloy content of the steel has different characteristics and uses.

3. Used as a reducing agent. In addition, ferrosilicon can be used as a reducing agent for the production of ferromolybdenum, ferrovanadium, and other ferroalloys, and silicon chromium alloy and silicon manganese alloy can be used as a reducing agent for the refining of medium-low-carbon ferrochrome and medium-low-carbon ferromanganese, respectively.
