Products Description
Calcium silicon cored wire is an alloy additive widely used in steel smelting, mainly used for deoxidation and alloying of molten steel. Its core components are silicon and calcium. The alloy material is delivered deep into the molten steel in the form of cored wire, thereby improving reaction efficiency and reducing element burnout. Compared with the traditional direct dosing method, calcium silicon cored wire can more accurately control the amount of alloy elements added, improve the purity of molten steel, and enhance the performance of the final product.

Deoxidation is one of the key links in the steelmaking process. Silicon and calcium are both strong deoxidizers that can effectively remove oxygen from molten steel and reduce oxide inclusions. The addition of calcium can also change the morphology of inclusions, turning them from hard and brittle to soft and deformable, thereby improving the toughness and processing performance of steel. Silicon-calcium cored wire uses wire feeding technology to feed the alloy directly into the deep of molten steel, avoiding the problem of calcium loss due to high-temperature volatilization and significantly improving the utilization rate of calcium. In addition, the addition of silicon helps to adjust the composition of molten steel and improve its casting and rolling properties.

The production process of calcium silicon cored wire has an important influence on its performance. Usually, calcium silicon alloy powder is wrapped with cold rolled steel strip and processed into wire with a certain diameter and density through molding equipment. The thickness and tightness of the coating directly affect the release rate of the alloy in the molten steel, so the production process needs to be strictly controlled. High-quality cored wire should have good tensile strength to ensure that it will not break during the wire feeding process. At the same time, the coating needs to melt quickly in the molten steel to make the alloy elements diffuse evenly.

In the application process, wire feeding speed and insertion depth are key parameters affecting the deoxidation effect. Too fast wire feeding speed may cause the cored wire to not be completely melted, affecting the reaction effect; while too deep insertion may increase equipment loss. Therefore, it is necessary to make reasonable adjustments according to the molten steel temperature, furnace type and smelting goals. Silicon calcium cored wire is not only used in converter and electric furnace steelmaking, but also commonly used in refining links outside the furnace, such as LF furnace and RH vacuum treatment, to further optimize the quality of molten steel.
