This characteristic makes barium silicon particularly suitable for the production of low-sulfur steel, such as pipeline steel, bearing steel and other steel types that have strict requirements on sulfur content. At the same time, the addition of barium silicon can also improve the distribution of sulfides in steel and reduce their adverse effects on material properties. In the foundry industry, silicon barium is often used as an inoculant to improve the structure and performance of cast iron. Adding silicon barium before pouring molten iron can promote the precipitation and uniform distribution of graphite, prevent the formation of white cast structure, and thus improve the cutting performance and mechanical strength of castings. In addition, silicon barium can also refine the matrix structure of cast iron, enhance its wear resistance and heat resistance, and make castings more suitable for complex working conditions in the fields of automobiles, machinery, etc.
