RP Graphite Electrode 100 mm Description
The principal raw materials employed in the manufacture of the RP graphite electrode are petroleum coke and regular pitch derived from coal tar. In the production of regular power graphite electrodes, the addition of a modest quantity of pitch coke is permissible. It is imperative that the sulfur content of petroleum coke and asphalt coke does not exceed 0.5%. Furthermore, the current density may be reduced to a level below 18A/cm2. It is typically employed in the regular power electric arc furnace utilized for steel production.
Regular power RP graphite electrodes are employed in electric arc furnaces (EAF) and ladle furnaces (LF) for steel production, ferroalloy production, silicon metal production and smelting processes. An RP graphite electrode manufactured using ordinary grade petroleum coke exhibits a low graphitization temperature, resulting in a graphite electrode with high resistivity, a large linear expansion coefficient, and poor thermal shock resistance. Consequently, the allowable current density is limited. An RP graphite electrode is suitable for the smelting of crude steel. The application of regular power graphite electrodes in steelmaking involves their use within electric arc furnaces, where they conduct electricity and generate high temperatures. This allows scrap steel or raw iron materials to be melted for the production and refining of steel.
