It is worth pointing out that Si Metal is important in the electronics industry. - It is the main material for the production of high-purity polycrystalline silicon, and these are semiconductors, microcircuits for computers, solar cells. The material comes out of the furnace as lava (temperatures up to 1800 degrees). After complete cooling, it is crushed into small pieces. Metal is most often sold in the form of a piece from 2 mm to 100 mm.

The ZhenAn produces silicon metal with a very high pure silicon content (Si ≥ 98.5%). The raw material for its synthesis is quartzite (a natural mineral made from silicon dioxide, SiO2), as well as coal and wood. It is produced at a temperature of approximately 2000 o C in resistance arc furnaces.

During the process, most of the quartzite (SiO2) is reduced by carbon (C) to silicon carbide (SiC), which is the reducing agent for the rest of the quartz that did not react in the electrode arc.

The chemical reaction looks like this:

SiO₂ + 2C = Si + 2CO

SiO₂ + 3C = SiC + 2CO (at the bottom of the furnace)

The final reaction occurs above the center of the furnace, at temperatures above 1835°C. An electric arc located between the ends of the electrodes and the center of the furnace maintains temperatures up to 2000 ^o C.

The final stage of the chemical reaction can be described as follows:

2SiO₂ + 3SiC = 4Si + SiO +3CO

SiO + SiC = 2Si + CO

The latter reaction produces pure silicon, which is recovered from the furnace as metallic silicon.

Molten silicon metal is extracted from crucible furnaces, which are sent to the foundry. There the ingots are cleaned and cast. After cooling, they are pre-crushed and temporarily stored in an oven. The product is then crushed and packaged in this form for transport.
