Once tungsten wire recrystallizes after being used at high temperatures, it becomes very brittle and can easily break under impact or vibration. In some electric light source products that require high reliability, in order to prevent filament breakage, rhenium is often added to the doped tungsten filament, called tungsten-rhenium filament, which can reduce the brittle transition temperature of tungsten to room temperature or below.
Tungsten filament has a fiber structure. When the temperature reaches 1500~1600℃, the tungsten filament will deform and sink due to high temperature. In order to improve the quality of tungsten wire, we usually add some additives during the sintering process, such as Na2O, K2O, SiO2, ThO, to enhance the high temperature creep resistance and sagging resistance of the tungsten wire. In order to increase the toughness of tungsten wire and prevent deformation at high temperatures, some oxides are usually added, such as silica, alumina, potassium, etc.
Tungsten wire after recrystallization will become very brittle when used at high temperatures. It is easily broken when in a state of shock. In some electric light sources that require high performance, in order to prevent the filament from breaking, rhenium is usually added to the tungsten filament. The tungsten-rhenium filament can extend the brittleness of tungsten at lower temperatures, even room temperature or lower.
The tungsten-rhenium wire we provide is added with rhenium, which has better flexibility and stability at high temperatures than pure tungsten wire.
Uses of tungsten rhenium wire:
1. Produce tungsten filaments and chromatographic heat-sensitive components with special requirements
2. Used in manufacturing heating wire mesh for TV heating and picture tubes and camera tubes
3. Used in military electronic equipment
