Nitrided ferrosilicon can be categorized in various ways based on its classification.
It can be classified into two main types according to its application: one for refractory materials and the other for steelmaking. The grain size for the refractory type is 200 mesh, while the steelmaking type has a grain size of 325 mesh. Additionally, the nitrided ferrosilicon intended for steel production must have a clean surface, free from noticeable foreign inclusions.
From a physical characteristics perspective, nitrided ferrosilicon is also divided into two types: one for refractory materials and the other for steelmaking. The steelmaking category can be further split into two subtypes: one for general steel production and the other for producing high-purity ferrosilicon.
Regular nitrided ferrosilicon appears whitish, whereas stabilized nitrided ferrosilicon has a dark brown surface. The surface intended for refractory material manufacturing must be clean and devoid of significant foreign inclusions.
