Silicon carbide is also referred to as "carbonite." In the contemporary C, N, B and other non-oxide high-tech refractory raw materials, silicon carbide is the most widely used and the most economical kind. It can be considered a gold-standard material, comparable to steel sand or refractory sand. China's industrial production of silicon carbide is currently divided into two categories: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide. Both are hexagonal crystals with a specific gravity of 3.20~3.25 and a microhardness of 2840~3320kg/mm².
