Silicon metal block for aluminium alloy: Industrial silicon for aluminium alloy smelting industry generally has different particle sizes. The traditional method of adding silicon is to pour silicon metal for aluminium alloys directly onto the surface of the aluminium liquid after the aluminium ingot is melted. The disadvantage of this method of addition is that large particles of lump silicon will enter the aluminium liquid directly due to gravity and melt quickly after stirring. The smaller particles of powdered silicon will float on the surface of the liquid aluminium due to its small size and light weight, and will be easily covered by the aluminium oxide, resulting in a lower recovery of Si in the subsequent slag removal process if the oxide slag coated with powdered silicon can be removed. If it cannot be removed, the powdered Si will remain in the aluminium alloy to form hard spots, seriously affecting product quality and causing difficulties in subsequent processing.

The production method of aluminium alloy includes the following steps: (1) adding aluminium liquid and aluminium ingot into the melting furnace; (2) adding silicon or master alloy: firstly, the metal silicon block is added into the melting furnace for melting, and stirred well and uniformly for half an hour at 730 ~ 760 degrees Celsius, and then the master alloy is completely dissolved and added into the melting furnace, and stirred well and uniformly for half an hour at 730 ~ 760 degrees Celsius, so as to make the added raw and auxiliary materials completely dissolved to make AL-Si system; (3) The prepared aluminium melt is subjected to slag removal and degassing, and degassing is carried out with powder refining agent and nitrogen to obtain aluminium melt with higher purity; (4) Casting. The conventional method of melting aluminium alloys and adding metallic silicon blocks to aluminium alloys is bound to have the above problems.

The metal silicon block for aluminium alloy to be added is put into an aluminium foil bag, vacuum packed, and the aluminium alloy with metal silicon addition bag is put into the aluminium melt. The structure of the alloy addition bag is to contain the alloy element powder required for the production of aluminium alloys in an aluminium foil bag with a vacuum inside the bag. In this method, the alloying element powder is put into the aluminium foil bag and vacuum packed. Although the problem of floating powder is solved, additional aluminium foil bags and vacuum packaging equipment need to be purchased, and the process is complicated and of low practicality. The purpose of using aluminium alloy metal silicon block is to overcome the shortcomings of the existing technology and provide a new method of adding industrial silicon in the melting process of aluminium alloy, which is a simple process but can effectively improve the recovery rate of silicon and the quality of aluminium alloy.

Aluminium alloy metal silicon block can be directly sunk into the aluminium liquid due to high gravity, and can be fully melted by stirring. The powdered silicon is loaded into a powder sprayer, and nitrogen is used as a carrier. By adjusting the flow of nitrogen, it is directly injected into the middle and lower part of the melting furnace and melted in the aluminium liquid, preventing it from floating on the surface of the aluminium liquid and being wrapped by oxides, which will reduce the recovery rate or form hard spots in the aluminium alloy, thus affecting the quality of the product. The use of aluminium alloy metal silicon block not only improves the recovery rate of silicon, but also significantly improves the quality of aluminium alloy, as shown in the increase of tensile strength and elongation.
