Tungsten is a silver-grey metal. It has an atomic weight of 183.85. Its electronic structure is 4f145d46s2. It's pretty heavy at 19.3g/cm3 at 20°C. It melts at 3400 ℃. It boils at 5555 ℃.
Tungsten can form solid solutions with iron and two intermetallic compounds (Fe2W and Fe3W2 or Fe7W6), but these are unstable at high temperatures. Tungsten iron containing 75-85% W has a melting point higher than 2500 ℃, so can't be discharged from the furnace and can only be produced by the block or iron extraction method. Industrial tungsten iron has a density of about 15.3g/cm.
