Ferrovanadium FeV50 is an alloy of iron and vanadium. It contains 35.0 to 85.0% vanadium by weight. It is obtained by restoration.

Description: Ferrovanadium contains 35-45% V, 1-3% Si, 0.5-1.5% Al (the rest is Fe and impurities); is smelted in electric furnaces by silicothermal method from vanadium pentoxide (85-95% BaOs), obtained during the chemical and metallurgical processing of iron-vanadium concentrate. It is used mainly to give strength to steel. Together with ferrovanadium, silicovanadium (smelted in electric furnaces), as well as metallic vanadium and rich ferrovanadium (up to 80% V), obtained by extraductive aluminothermic method, are distinguished. Ferrovanadium is produced by reducing technical vanadium pentoxide with silicon, ferrosilicon or aluminum in an electric arc furnace. The method of smelting ferrovanadium depends on the amount of vanadium in the alloy. Vanadium is an important component of many different steels and alloys. Vanadium is used in nuclear and aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, and shipbuilding.
