Product Introduction

Product Overview: Silicon Carbide 88% Powder

Silicon Carbide 88% Powder is a cost-effective industrial-grade black SiC powder with stable chemical composition, uniform particle distribution, high hardness, good wear resistance, excellent thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. Compared with high-purity silicon carbide products, it provides reliable performance at a more competitive price, making it widely used in refractory materials, wear-resistant ceramics, abrasives, metallurgical additives, surface treatment and composite materials. It can meet the performance needs of most general industrial applications while effectively controlling production costs.

Main Applications of Silicon Carbide 88% Powder

1. Wear-Resistant Ceramics

88% SiC powder is designed for cost-effective engineering wear ceramics, not high-performance precision ceramics.Unlike 97%+ high-purity SiC (used for seals, bearings, high-density structural ceramics), its higher impurity content limits sintering density and high-temperature strength. It is widely used in mining & coal washing ceramic liners, composite ceramic pipes, wear plates and slurry pump liners, where basic wear resistance and low cost are preferred.

2. Refractory Materials

As a cost-efficient filler for refractory products, it performs well in medium-to-high temperature furnaces up to 1800℃.Applied in refractory castables, gunning mixes and kiln lining materials for cement, steel and metallurgy industries. It provides good thermal shock and slag resistance at a much lower cost than high-grade SiC.

3. Abrasive & Grinding Tools

Suitable for general grinding applications rather than precision polishing.Used for grinding wheels, sandpaper and coarse polishing compounds for cast iron, stone and non-ferrous metals.Lower purity makes it uneconomical for precision machining, but ideal for rough grinding and surface treatment.

4. Metallurgical Additives

Used as a deoxidizer and alloy additive in steelmaking and foundry. It improves molten steel fluidity and refines grain structure, serving as a low-cost alternative to high-purity SiC in common metallurgical processes.
