A method for preparing a new type of bonded organic polymer-coated silicon briquette chromatographic stationary phase involves the in-situ synthesis of an organic polymer layer containing a large number of epoxy groups on the outer surface and inner channels of macroporous silica balls. Further modifications to the polymer surface using different structural functional groups allow for various chromatographic separation modes. The organic polymer coating can completely shield the silica hydroxyl groups on the surface of the silica balls, making the prepared stationary phase suitable for separating samples of different structures, including basic samples. The epoxy groups on the surface of the polymer coating can easily bond with different types of functional groups, resulting in the creation of various types of stationary phases. The new stationary phase possesses mechanical properties similar to silica gel-based stationary phases without damaging the structural integrity of the silica ball channels, as well as the chemical stability of the channel structure and polymer matrix, along with biocompatibility. It features a simple preparation process and a wide range of applications.
